Sustainability Report: Crocco’s Achievements and Vision
Crocco presents its new 2024 Sustainability Report, a document that reflects a year of concrete commitments and tangible results: from advanced chemical recycling for food packaging, to scientific collaborations with the University of Padua, up to the adoption of the legal form of a Benefit Corporation.
With transparency and method, we share the environmental, social, and economic challenges we face every day, and the solutions we are building for the future. Because for us, sustainability is made of choices, numbers, and measurable commitments.
"It is with great satisfaction that I present to you our fourth Sustainability Report," writes CEO Renato Zelcher in his letter to stakeholders. "It is an opportunity to tell you what we have accomplished, but also to explain how we are addressing environmental and social challenges with concrete, measurable, and above all effective tools.
In 2024, we made a significant step forward in the field of recycling. We introduced advanced chemical recycling into our production processes, allowing us to use regenerated plastic even for critical applications such as food packaging, while maintaining the same quality and safety standards as virgin plastic.
Unlike mechanical recycling, chemical recycling works at the molecular level, enabling us to recover materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. And, as always, we do this with method and transparency, adopting a certified mass balance system to ensure a traceable and verifiable circular content.
But technology alone is not enough. We believe that sustainable innovation also comes through shared scientific research.
That’s why in 2024 we strengthened our collaboration with UniSMART – the University of Padua Foundation – and with the University itself, working side by side on cutting-edge projects in the fields of materials, eco-design, and industrial sustainability.
It is an investment in the future, in skills, and in relationships that enable us to grow and remain competitive in the long term.
At the same time, we have continued to invest in people.
2024 was our first year as a Benefit Corporation, and we immediately gave substance to this commitment: a new corporate welfare plan including birth bonuses, scholarships for employees’ children, life insurance, and health-focused training courses.
Because for us, caring for the environment also means, first and foremost, caring for the people who work at Crocco.
Once again this year, our Greenside program has been the compass guiding us.
Collaborative eco-design, measurement of environmental impact, transparent sharing of results: these are the tools with which we turn sustainability into a daily practice — concrete and verifiable.
This Report is our way of telling you who we are today and where we want to go.
Always one step ahead, with the conviction that true innovation must also carry responsibility, method, and courage.
